My practice explores the connection between nature, emotion and the internal body through abstract forms, layered colour and fluid movement. inspired initially by organic landscapes and natural textures, my work gradually evolved into something more personal, becoming a reflection of internal sensation, memory and feeling.
During a period of living with chronic pain caused by Endometriosis, I began to recognise that the shapes and structures appearing within my work mirrored my physical and emotional experience. Following surgery to remove an 11cm endometrioma, painting became both an intuitive process and a way of translating invisible experiences into colour, form and texture.
Working primarily with water based media, I allow staining, bleeding and layering to occur naturally, creating compositions that feel both bodily and environmental- resembling cells, landscapes, water systems and microscopic worlds simultaneously.
Although rooted in personal experience, the work is intended to remain open and emotional rather than literal. I hope viewers connect with my paintings through their own sensations, interpretations and memories, finding softness, tension, movement and beauty within abstract forms.
